It’s a 2012 model and is bright blue. I was in the market for a four wheel drive for a long time but I simply couldn’t decide. In the end I narrowed it down to either a ford ranger wild track or a Jeep wrangler. The attraction for me to the Jeep wrangler was the ability to take off the roof. I’d always wanted a convertible but didn’t like the look of soft tops. So, a Jeep with a removable hardtop was the perfect solution for me. The negative however was space, Jeeps are a great compact size for touring and tough tracks but when it comes to storage space that’s when you can come undone. That’s why I was drawn to the massive storage abilities of the ford ranger wild track. Especially because I was planning on installing into my four wheel drive a 12 volt fridge / freezer. So, in the end I took the risk and got a Jeep wrangler. I do find it to be a struggle particularly on those larger trips to fit all my camping gear. That’s why I did some research and found what’s known as collapsible gear.

Collapsible gear is such a great solution for anyone in my situation. But let’s be honest who doesn’t need more space for gear when going on an adventure. The benefit of a quality collapsible range is not only the room to store the range itself but also to have the space for extra gear as well. A collapsible range has the ability of being able to be easily flatten down, by folding into itself. This of course makes for super easy storage as obviously the item becomes smaller. Not only is the collapsible range becoming smaller a benefit but also once folded the items become flat this allows for other heavy items to be placed on top. Collapsible ranges are construed from a rigid rim and base made from polypropylene and the walls are built using a thermoplastic rubber. This ensures they are extremely durable and made to handle your four wheel driving adventures.

A collapsible bucket was the first piece of foldable camping gear I purchased. Despite not having much space in my Jeep, with any vehicle I always found a bucket extremely annoying to pack and transfer around on a camping trip. A conventional bucket is quite an awkward shape, so when I’m playing gear packing tetris I’ve always found a bucket hard to fit in. Hence why I love my foldable bucket in a matter of seconds it squeezes down into a super easy to pack flat size. Not only that but a traditional bucket is quite breakable. So, the rigid polypropylene base and rim & Flexible thermoplastic rubber walls of a collapsible bucket gives me great piece of mind when I’m bumping away on those tough four wheel drive tracks. Not only that but due to the materials my stacking bucket is constructed from, means it can withstand boiling water. This is great for washing up whether it be the dishes or my Jeep. Not only can it hold boiling water but on the other end of the spectrum my foldable bucket can also tolerate Icey water or even straight ice cubes. So not that I ever have but I guess if you wanted to use it as an ice bucket then you could.

For similar reasons a collapsible laundry basket was next on my buying list from the foldable camping gear. Unlike a bucket a laundry basket can be used to store items inside when packing your vehicle. In fact, they can actually be quite a useful way to organise your camping gear. But there is always a but, although very useful and issue I constantly ran into was breakage. Laundry baskets are incredibly flimsy when I go on an easy going pavement holiday this wasn’t to much of an issue. However, I love to take that untraveled beaten track, hence why a brought a four wheel drive. So, on those tough tracks with everything shuffling around a durable stacking laundry basket is certainly a requirement.

Now you may have heard the age old saying bringing everything but the kitchen sink. Well with a collapsible sink you can bring everything plus the kitchen sink. I’m surprised how much I actually love my foldable sink at camp. It came with a built in suction plug so when I’ve filled the collapsible sink up to the brim rather than awkwardly having to tip the hot water out, I simply remove the plug and let it drain just like my sink at home. Another handy little feature is when you fold it down you can use the tough polypropylene base as a chopping board. This is great for me as I hate washing up, so that’s one less thing to clean.

Whilst on the topic of me disliking washing dishes well it’s probably no shock but I don’t like drying them either. So, when I saw the collapsible dish rack I had to have it. With features like a utensil section and dish stand plus drainage holes I simply chuck my wet dishes in and let time and gravity to the rest. So, I would strongly recommend grabbing yourself one. Maybe you’re not like me and you love drying dishes. Well, the foldable dish rack will let your dishes properly air rate preventing mold before you begin packing them back into your camping storage boxes.

So, whether you’re like me and you have a compact four wheel drive or maybe you just want to make room for your fun camping adventure toys. I’d certainly recommend looking into getting yourself a quality collapsible range of gear.

I love getting out there and going on adventures in my JK Jeep wrangler.
