At the very tip of the Dampier Peninsula, north of Broome you\u2019ll find one of Australia\u2019s most unique coastal camping experiences. This is literally where the outback meets the sea, with red dirt cliffs dropping down to pale white sands and crystal clear blue waters. Kooljaman offers a whole host of camping options, from unpowered campsites to fully equipped and powered safari tents. Arguably the best way to end your Kimberley adventure.<\/p>\n

A stunning place that you’ve gotta add to your itinerary if you’re wandering up through the Gulf and the Kimberley. It’s about 75km north-west of Darwin, head out through Howard Springs and keep following the road til it turns to dirt, then keep following all the way to the end. Be warned that it’s a very popular spot with the locals and on weekends is full of quad bikes, so mid week is best. If you’re keen to do a little bit of exploring, there’s an old abandoned jail farm up in the scrub behind the beach at the very northern end that’s bloody interesting to check out.<\/p>\n

The Robe to Beachport run through the Little Dip Conservation Park is known as one of the toughest beach runs in the country. There are a number of campsites throughout the park, but selecting one behind the dunes will keep you nicely sheltered while still remaining close to the beach. As well as epic 4WDing, Little Dip features some insanely good rock and beach fishing. <\/p>\n

Roughly a three hour drive from Esperance you\u2019ll some of the toughest, yet most rewarding beach driving in all of Australia. I\u2019m of course talking about the Bilbunya Dunes, but did you know camping at the base of the dunes is some of the best camping you\u2019ll ever do as well. Try and time your visit during a full moon to really be blown away by the light glowing off the massive sand dunes.<\/p>\n

Bruny Island is right up there with Tassie\u2019s west coast when it comes to tough 4WDing, and Cloudy Bay is the pick of the island\u2019s campsites. Just getting to this pristine campsite requires a drive along the beach, and once you\u2019re there, there\u2019s loads of activities to keep you occupied. From surfing to fishing and even bird watching, Cloudy Bay is full of things to do \u2013 oh, and did we mention the tough 4WDing in the area? What\u2019s really special is when you sit on the beach and look south, you\u2019re looking out at unbroken ocean all the way to Antarctica.<\/p>\n

\nWhile it\u2019s a super-popular location during peak times, Teewah\u2019s 15km long beachfront camping zone is absolutely sensational. Be prepared to hunt for the best campsite, because just as you think you\u2019ve found the best, you\u2019ll come across one even better!<\/p>\n

\nQueensland\u2019s Far North is without a doubt a 4WDing and camping Mecca, and Elim Beach is no exception. With nearby tracks that haven\u2019t been driven in years and pristine coastal camping, you\u2019ll wonder why you haven\u2019t heard of this place before.<\/p>\n

\nRight near Newcastle and just a couple of hours north of Sydney, Blackies is a favourite beach getaway of the 4WD Action crew. Make sure you come prepared, because the sand here is super soft! The pick of the campsites is north of Third Creek.<\/p>\n

\nExplore the stunning white beaches, kayak across the crystal clear waters and see or swim with playful dolphins at the stunning Lipson Cove campground. With cracking fishing to boot, the bonus here is that you can have your four legged mates along with you to enjoy it as well!<\/p>\n

\nChili Beach isn’t exactly the hardest spot to get to – it’s almost all high-range dirt with a few slow jump-ups – but the fact it’s about a two hour drive east of the PDR means not everyone checks it out. Campsite 8 is the pick of the litter as it’s nicely sheltered – check the map as some are more open than others.<\/p>\n

\nEveryone always misses North West Point and jumps straight onto the likes of Ben-ewa, Comboyuro Point and other proper facilitated camps sites, but the thing is this one is the best!
