With just a couple of basic hand tools the job can be done in just 15 minutes!

The first step is to pull your awning out of the box and see just what is inside. Every Adventure Kings awning comes with a mounting kit, and all the necessary nuts and bolts to install it to just about any roof rack system.\u00a0 When unrolling your camping awning, you will find the mounting kit stashed safely away inside the rolled up canopy material.

Now you have found everything it is time to make sure you have everything on hand. In the mounting Kit bag you will have 2x heavy duty \u2018L\u2019 shaped brackets, 2x sandwich plates, 4x short bolts with corresponding nylon locking nuts, and 4x long bolts with corresponding nylon locking nuts.

The included mounting kit is designed to work by sandwiching the mesh of most Adventure Kings Steel Roof racks, but because of the nature of this bracket system is actually compatible with nearly any setup, thanks to the modular nature of these kits.<\/p>\n


Sit the awning on the roof racks of the vehicle and identify the best position front to back, that the awning should mount up. Keeping in mind on mesh installations that the closer the brackets are located to rigid structure pieces the more stable the mounting will be. Once you have the position decided, mount your \u2018L\u2019 brackets with the sandwich plates, with the L bracket being located at the top of the rack and the sandwich plate beneath, using the long bolts to sandwich everything together.

With the brackets mounted, slide 2 of the shorter bolts into each of the awning extrusion channels, and slide them into place to line up with the mounting brackets. Now flip the awning over and mount up the awning to the brackets using the captured bolts making sure the zippered side is facing downwards.

With the awning in place fasten the nylon locking nuts as you go.

Handy Tip:<\/strong> If you are doing this job solo, tie a strap around one end of the awning whist you are working on the other end to prevent it falling down.<\/p>\n

Double check everything is going to be well situated and nip up all the bolts nice and tight and you are ready to go!<\/p>\n

But what If I Don\u2019t have a mesh style Steel Roof Rack? <\/strong><\/p>\n

There are plenty of extremely safe and easy ways to mount your Adventure Kings Awning<\/strong><\/a> to other styles of Roof Rack<\/strong><\/a> is to pull up the rubber strip and mark out suitable spacings for drill holes. You should drill these out using an 8mm drill bit, and deburr the holes insert the long bolts and fasten the sandwich plate underneath to distribute the load more evenly.

An additional way to mount the included \u2018L\u2019 Bracket is using what is known as \u201cchannel fasteners\u201d these are proprietary in design and will be profiled to fit exactly inside the rubber channel on your vehicles specific make and model of roof rack cross bar. With these awesome mounting bolts, the ease of mounting takes just seconds to install with the \u2018L\u2019 Brackets easy to mount up.
