What is the risk?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Australia, the risks associated with hitting animals is far greater than the average \u2018city slicker\u2019 would imagine, accounting for approximately 4-6% of all vehicle accidents (this figure is only for reported incidents) and of these accidents expensive damage and the potential for serious injury to drivers and their passengers is incredibly high!<\/p>\n

How big is the risk

\nWith Kangaroos in plague proportions and with Deer, goats and pigs populations booming uncontrolled the likelihood of crossing paths with one of these wild animals whilst travelling at night is extremely likely at one point or another.<\/p>\n

These animals in particular tend to graze around the side of the road and with very limited warning will jump in front of your vehicle.<\/p>\n

With the dynamic leap of a kangaroo\u2019s bound, you may even find the animal completely misses your bulbar and ends up striking your windshield, with a typical Red Kangaroo being able to leap around 8-9m at a time and up to 3m in the air at full pace and\u00a0 weighing up to 90Kg you are surely asking for trouble.<\/p>\n

Why they are a risk!<\/strong><\/p>\n

A strike with a medium sized animal can cause MASSIVE problems for the vehicle and it\u2019s occupants. With potential damage to critical vehicle components like your radiator, headlights, windshield and even your vehicles steering and braking mechanisms underneath the vehicle, you could be looking to foot a bill reaching into the thousands for a very avoidable problem.<\/p>\n

Risk mitigation<\/strong>
\nThere are a dozen reasons why you could find yourself in a situation like this and whilst hitting your high beams and hoping for the best is an acceptable strategy for some, for many this risk is just not worth it, with high beam globes typically only projecting around 2000Lumens total approximately 100m down the track and with a very narrow and limited spread the amount of warning you have when your vehicle is travelling at high speed is scarily low.<\/p>\n

By adding a set of auxillary LED Lights<\/strong><\/a> to the front of your vehicle, you can improve your night time vision by factors of 10, whilst not just pushing out a stack more light but also by filling in the blanks and illuminating both a long way down the track as well as out wide into the roads shoulder with a clear white light. By employing a system like this you ensure you have a HUGE heads up on any oncoming hazards.<\/p>\n

What type of light should you choose?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ideally by adding both an LED lightbar<\/strong><\/a> and a set of LED Spotties<\/strong><\/a> you get the best of both worlds, with an LED Lightbar being able to gibe you a HUGE light spread, the Domin8r 22\u201d LED Lightbar<\/strong><\/a> offers a massive 150\u00b0 of light spread and a huge 5470 Lumens with a maximum range around 230m which is more than double your standard high beams.<\/p>\n

So if you tend to drive on winding mountain roads, the insane amount of light from your Driving lights may be excessive, however if you tend to travel at higher speeds through open country then a set of Driving lights is just the ticket giving you a HUGE heads up on where a mob of Kangaroos may be grazing.<\/p>\n
