TOOLS OF THE TRADE!<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the first things you need to include in the back of your 4WD is a set of tools, this can be anything from a custom-built toolbox including all of your favorite spanners and screwdrivers from the shed. \n<\/strong>Bringing a reliable source of compressed air with you whilst you are offroad is a very good idea, whilst most of the time you can get by without dropping your tyre pressures, if you do head offroad, you\u2019d be wise to lose a few PSI. By reducing your tyre pressures you do 3 things.<\/p>\n

Firstly you improve your offroad grip, by reducing pressures your sidewall of your tyre carcass is allowed to flex, exposing more of your tyre tread to the track surface, this increased surface area results in less downforce, meaning your vehicle will tend to float above the softer terrains offroad.<\/p>\n

An Additional benefit of reducing your tyre pressures is the reduced likelihood of tyre punctures, by allowing the tread to conform to the surface of the track!<\/p>\n

The third reason you should let your tyres down is the reduced erosion on the tracks, whilst you have more grip you will tend to spin your tyres less and this will mean the tracks are less likely to get closed down by the people with authority!<\/p>\n

Using a Kwiky Tyre Deflator<\/strong><\/a> is one of the quickest and easiest ways to drop your 4WD\u2019s tyres by using an easy to read gauge you can see the pressure your tyres are at as well as how quickly the pressures are dropping!<\/p>\n

Once you are done offroad, and its time to hit the highway, you MUST inflate your tyres back up to highway pressures, if you attempt to drive at speed on offroad pressures, you have the potential to destroy your tyres and also to roll the rubber off your rims, resulting in a catastrophe!<\/p>\n
