CABLE

When selecting a winch, the cable is one of the critical deciding factors, there are PLENTY of options for winch cable choice on the market from steel to synthetic and within there are plenty of options of different diameters for varying weight loads!

The tough Domin8r X 12,000lb Winch is fitted with a 9.5mm UHMWPE this modern synthetic cable has an enormous list of advantages over the heavier old-school steel cable.

First of all, synthetic winch cables are lighter by many factors and tend to not splinter like their steel counterparts. A synthetic cable also won’t rust and in wet damp or humid environments and can even float when used in the water through creeks and deep mud puddles!

HIGH HORESPOWER ELECTRIC MOTOR

Early 4WD winches used to use PTO which stands for ‘Power Take Off’ which takes its power from your motor via clever gearing (kind of like low range gearing) these systems are effective but do suffer from being 100% reliant on your motor running which makes them useless for recoveries where your motor may have issues!

MASSIVE REDUCTION GEARING

With low range gearing you’ll know what reduction gearing can do, with rock crawlers running between 60:1 and 100:1 ratios from your engine you’d be blown away at the pulling force output by one of these gear sets.

Brace yourself because the Domin8r X Winch offers a massive 218:1 gear ratio which reduces the speed of pull but increases the strength of pull for the most reliable recoveries.

The 218:1 reduction gear ratio is afforded by the 3-stage planetary gearbox, which uses precision engineered metal gears for ultimate performance no matter what the conditions are!

AUTOMATIC BRAKE

If you have a winch that came without a braking mechanism, as soon as you stop winching, your winch cable would automatically unspool itself under tension, making offroad recoveries potentially extremely dangerous.

WIRED AND WIRELESS CONTROL BOX

The control box on many 4WDing winches is limited by the length of the control cable attached to the winch control handle.
