Which Adventure Kings Roofrack Suits Your Rooftop Tent?

April 13, 2021   |   By Which Adventure Kings Roofrack Suits Your Rooftop Tent? - image 201211-Port-Macquarie-Beach-Shoot-200-of-219 on https://news.emgcloud.net/news

Adding a roofrack to a vehicle is an easy way to substantially increase it’s ability to store and carry bulky gear such as swags or jobsite materials, and also provides the perfect way to mount a rooftop tent. Here at 4WD Supacentre we sell both steel and aluminium roofracks, in a variety of styles and for a range of different vehicles. Both are easy DIY installations that come with clear instructions, and require just a couple of hours and some basic tools to install. Let’s take a look at what’s on offer.

Our steel roofracks are an excellent budget-friendly way to increase vehicle storage, and are predominantly available for older vehicles. They’re available in four different sizes of full-length rack – a full cage roofrack that runs around all four sides great for strapping camping gear down to, a tradie roofrack with rails down each side popular with tradies that helps with loading materials from either end, a rooftop tent rack that lets you mount a Tourer rooftop tent at the rear, and a flat roofrack that keeps overall vehicle height low and lets you mount either a Kwiky MkII or Grand Tourer MkII rooftop tent. All four of these racks are available for gutter-mount vehicles such as older Patrols and Landcruisers, as well as 120 and 150 Series Prado and 100 and 200 Series Landcruiser. Single cab, half-length and three-quarter length full cage roofracks are also available, to suit only those vehicles with gutter mounts.

Our new range of premium aluminium platform roofracks are extremely popular because they offer a number of amazing benefits. Firstly they’re lightweight, weighing in at around half the weight of our steel roofracks. Secondly they feature a modern low-profile design that minimises any increase to overall vehicle height, so customers can still fit in their garage or underground carparks in many cases, subject to vehicle suspension and tyre sizes. These aluminium platform roofracks are available as model-specific kits for a huge range of modern 4WDs, as well as older gutter-mount vehicles, and come with everything needed in the one box – check our website for the most up-to-date listing. Most importantly, they feature an accessory channel around all four sides and on all cross bars, which lets customers easily mount a huge range of accessories, such as T-bolts, tie-down eyelets, light brackets, kayak mounts, jerry can holders and recovery tracks holders. All of these are available in a bundle and are perfect combo items for customers to purchase together with their new aluminium platform roofrack.

Other bundle products that customers typically purchase with their roofrack include fixed or semi-flexible solar panels and solar regulators to charge their battery, as well as a range of weather-resistant rooftop storage bags. Take the time wherever possible to discuss with customers what intend to carry on their roofracks and you’ll open up the option of other bundle products in many cases, such as awnings, kayaks or even rooftop tents.

That’s not to say this is the only hard and fast rule when it comes to fitting a rooftop tent to your roofrack. For instance we have seen campers bolt their Kwiky pop up rooftop tent to the top of a full cage steel roofrack, but what this does is raise the rooftop tent approximately six to eight inches. This could be a concern if overall vehicle height is something you are worried about, but it also opens up clever roofrack storage space between your steel roofrack and the underside of your rooftop tent, which is perfect for storing some camping gear like camp tables, camp chairs and the like.

The majority of campers who want to purchase a steel roofrack or an aluminium platform roofrack to mount a rooftop tent choose to do so on a flat roofrack, which  gives the largest, simplest mounting platform. It means you have the choice of being able to mount any of the three different Kings rooftop tents onto your roofrack, whether it’s the fold-out Tourer rooftop tent with rooftop tent annex, or the pop up Kwiky Rooftop Tent  or the Grand Tourer aluminium rooftop tent. All Adventure Kings roofracks come as a full DIY mounting kit which gives you every single nut, bolt and bracket you need to fit the roofrack to your 4WD, assuming that you’ve bought the correct model-specific roofrack to fit your vehicle, or whether it’s a universal gutter mount roofrack that will suit many different gutter-mount 4WDs such as older Landcruisers and Patrols.

Then of course with any Adventure Kings rooftop tent, you also get a full DIY mounting kit with all the brackets you need to install your rooftop tent to your new roofracks. In fact like all Adventure Kings camping gear, Adventure Kings Roofracks and Kings rooftop tents have been designed modular to work perfectly together! That way there are way less hassles and headaches when it comes to installing your steel roofrack or aluminium platform rack, and in fact you should have no dramas getting them all installed onto your vehicle in well under a couple of hours time.

And if you choose to install a Kings rooftop tent roofrack and a Tourer rooftop tent, don’t forget that you also end up with extra storage room at the front of your steel roofrack to let you store other camping gear! In particular, Kings Storage Boxes work brilliantly and offer weather-resistant storage for your camping gear and extends the usefulness of your Kings steel roofrack even more. Whatever style of Kings rooftop tent you choose, there’s a quality, strong and incredible value Kings roofrack to suit and make installation a breeze. And of course when you buy your steel roofrack or aluminium platform rack along with your rooftop tent from Australia’s favourite camping gear store, you are guaranteed that you’re getting the best value for money possible!
