Take your Awning to the next level with an Awning Tent

We’ve said it once, but we’ll say it again- no touring rig could ever be complete without a high quality Side Awning. There are several different types of 4wd Awnings out there, and each of them are worth their weight in gold whether you’re escaping the heat of the summer up North, keeping the cold morning dew off your swag down South in winter or using it to hide out and keep dry during a downpour. I’d venture to say that I simply wouldn’t own a 4wd without one.

There are a multitude of additional items you could purchase in a combo with a camping awning, which would save you a bunch of cash- but today I’m going to be taking you through one of my absolute favourite bits of gear to take out camping with me that attaches straight to my awning, super quick and hassle free- the legendary Kings Awning Tent attachment!

Awning Tents take your side awning to a whole new level by transforming it into a fully set up shelter from the wind, rain and even snow in just a matter of minuets. They take up less space than a pillow, so you can store them just about anywhere and they are so simple and easy to set up.

The beauty of adding an awning tent to your setup is that you can use them for just about anything at camp. For example; You could use them an awning tent as an eating area or kitchen because of how much space they have inside them when they’re fully set up. You could set your swag up inside one to act as yet another layer of protection for from the elements- especially on freezing cold nights. Trust me, the difference in temperature is simply incredible- just last year on a trip to the snowy mountains it was freezing cold when we pulled into camp, so I decided to set the awning tent up and roll the swag out inside it. Now, a swag is already nice and cozy on its own, but having that extra layer of protection between me and the freezing cold wind and snow meant that I was peeling layers off during the night and I was almost too warm!

Awning Tents are also able to stay nice and cool even on the hottest summer days. This is thanks to the clever air gap left between the awning and the awning tent. This allows air to flow freely between the two, keeping the inside nice and cool. Combine this with the huge fine mesh windows and doors throughout which allow the breeze to flow through while keeping the creepy crawlies out. This is the same midge proof mesh we use on our entire range of legendary swags, Rooftop Tents and gazebo tents. There is even a hug access door on the vehicle side of the awning tent which allows complete access into your vehicles.

The Kings Awning Tents are built with extra length on the base which means it’ll fit on 4wds with hug lifts and tyres. The sides are made from ultra high quality 170GSM Polyester and the flooring is made from super tough 500D polyethylene material, making the entire awing tent 100% waterproof and extremely easy to clean after an epic weekend out camping in the bush.

Another massive win for an awning tent is the fact that it does not require any extra guy ropes, tent poles or a fly. Compare this to a traditional tent that could easily take up double thew space in your car, take twice as long to set up and weigh up to 3 times the weight of our awning tent. You can also stand up in your awning tent which is another massive win compared to a traditional tent which feels cramped and claustrophobic.

In my books, any bit of gear that’ll add little creature comforts to my camping set up that’ll keep the other half happy is a big yes! Awning Tents also offer much needed privacy to get changed when you are at busy campsites- this saves you from having to struggle getting dressed in your swag in the morning.

And speaking of adding extra comfort to your campsite, we cant talk about awning tents without mentioning the awesome money saving combos you could pair one with.

Add an awning wall to the side of your awning and you have yet another spot to store gear out of the weather. I usually set up an awning wall on the side of my awning so I have a spot to chuck my camp chairs when I head to bed. This way, they stay nice and dry and don’t cant any morning dew.

Mesh Floors add another layer of protection underneath the awning tent from the cold ground and because they are made from super tough woven material, the help protect the bottom of the awning tent from sharp rocks and sticks.

Camp light kits are an awesome addition to your awning tent. There are a number of ways you can fit the 4 bar camp light kit and the 5 bar camp light kit to your awning tent, but my favourite way is to grab a handful of steel flat washers and place them one at a time on top of the awning tent between the roof and the awning, then grab on of the LED camp light bars and place it on the ceiling of the awning tent magnetic side up. The magnets will then stick to the flat washers and clamp the LED camp light to the roof.

So no matter what your camp setup might be or where your next trip of a lifetime is- it wouldn’t be complete without an Adventure Kings Awning Tent.
