If you’re debating whether or not to grab a set of spotlights for your 4wd, and you’re not sure if it’s worth the upgrade- READ THIS! I’m going to take you through why I reckon every single 4wd needs a set of LED Spotties and which ones would best suit your individual set up.

Factory Headlights/ High-beam

You’d think by now (being 2021), car manufacturers would have it spot on when it comes to light output on a factory set of high-beams, which would negate the need for a set of 4×4 Spotlights. In my experience, driving long distances at night in modern vehicles without added light from a set of spotties is an extremely taxing task.
When you’re out driving at night without a set of 4wd LED Spotlights and relying only on your  factory lights, whether it is in thick scrub, windy roads or even far out west where the roads are seemingly endless and straight, your eyes are constantly straining to make sense of what’s in front of you. This in turn makes your eyes tires, which makes you tired, which dramatically increases the effects of fatigue. No doubt anyone who has done this for an extended period of time would agree- after a long drive with average light output on a 4wd, you feel absolutely buggered and no doubt you’d be online straight away to buy a set of Driving Lights!

According to Transport for NSW- Fatigue related crashes are almost three times more likely to be fatal than crashes not involving fatigue.  
This is just one of many reasons I am a strong believer in the fact that installing a set of 4wd driving lights to your 4wd is a safety feature that everyone should consider. Brighter 4wd Driving Lights = less strain on your eyes = less fatigue = safer travelling!

Toughest Driving lights ever??

What to look for in a set of driving lights

When purchasing a set of LED Driving Lights for your rig, pay very close attention to 3 things which every set of spotties need.

The LUX & Lumens on your driving lights should play a massive role in your decision to purchase a set of driving lights. Our 9” Lethal LED Driving Lights have a lab proven 21,840 real world lumens and 1 LUX at a whopping 1,342m. In my opinion, this is the perfect combination of LUX and Lumens. To put it simply, LUX is how far the light will go and Lumens is the amount of visible light in front of you.

Colour temperature is also a big deciding factor in a set of LED Driving Lights. Our range of Adventure Kings Lethal Driving Lights has a colour temp rating of 5185 kelvin. Again, this is near perfect when it comes to relieving stress on your eyes. Ever been behind the wheel of a 4wd at night when you flick the spotties on, only to be blinded by the reflections bouncing off street signs? I’d be willing to bet that those driving lights had a Colour temp of around 7,000k to 9,000k. The closer to 10,000k you get, the more blue the light will be and the closer to 1,000k- the more yellow the light will be. To give you an idea, sunlight is around the 5000k mark and this is exactly what you want the colour temp to be on your spotlights to minimise eye fatigue. The build quality in a driving light is super important when it comes to longevity of a driving light.
