Five Uses For Your Swag That Don’t Involve Going Camping!

March 4, 2018   |   By Matt Smith Five Uses For Your Swag That Don’t Involve Going Camping! - image Capture-7 on https://news.emgcloud.net/news

We love swags here at 4WD Supacentre. We love camping in swags, in hot weather and cold. There’s
nothing like rolling out your swag at a perfect little campsite and waking up in the morning, opening the
zip and realizing it’s a beautiful day outside. We love camping in swags because it’s about as Aussie as it
gets, and we love it because inside your swag you can make it so dark that you could sleep til noon.
Which is exactly what’s needed when you’ve had a few too many world-problem- solving refreshments
the night before…

However, we know that you can’t just go camping at the drop of a hat, as much as we’d all like to.
Sometimes the real world gets in the way, but just because you can’t get out bush doesn’t mean you
can’t use your swag often. Here’s six ways to get extra usage out of your swag without ever having to
find a campsite.

1. ‘EMERGENCY’ SLEEPOVERS AT A MATES HOUSE
We’ve all been there. You drop over to a mate’s place for a couple of quiet ones after a long day
at work, and all of a sudden you realise that you’ve had a couple too many and you’re in no
state to drive home. Your mate doesn’t have a spare bed and the couch has been taken over by
his overly-affectionate Great Dane who doesn’t know the meaning of ‘no’. If you have your swag
in the back of your 4WD, then a good comfy night’s sleep is always on hand. Roll your swag out
in the living room, peg it out against the TV wall unit and the coffee table and you’re set to
snooze. Works great in the shed too when that quick starter motor swap turns into an all-night
epic because someone (we’re looking at you, Barry) dropped a bolt down into the bellhousing…

2. WHEN UNEXPECTED GUESTS DROP OVER
A swag is just as good when the roles are reversed too. Sometimes a mate or the mother-in- law
will unexpectedly drop over and want to crash for the night. The spare room’s probably piled
three feet high with boxes and junk and you can’t be bothered digging it all out just to clear out
a bed right? Roll out your swag once again for instant bedding for unexpected guests, but maybe
consider putting a tarp down if the mother-in- law is claiming the swag for the night. Don’t want
that three tonnes of makeup getting all over your swag mattress…

3. INSTANT CUBBY HOUSE FOR THE KIDS
School holidays, rainy days, Frozen repeats for the seven millionth time. Sounds like a lot of
fun… if you’re six. For the rest of us who need a bit of peace and quiet, a swag can be a savior.
It’s an instant fortress for the kids to play in, especially if you have a big double swag and they
can all fit in there. As an added bonus, if they still won’t shut up you can just roll the swag back
up with them in it. Kidding – don’t do this. Well, don’t do it more than once, at least…

4. A SOLUTION FOR BEING IN THE DOGHOUSE
This one goes somewhat hand-in- hand with Usage # 1. After an impromptu sleepover at your
mates’ place, you get home to find you’d conveniently forgotten about dinner with the in-laws
the night before. Righto, no little spoon for you tonight, you’re in the doghouse. Which is lucky,
because if you have your swag, the doghouse is a bloody comfortable place to sleep. Geez this
swag has been a good buy eh?

5. FRIDAY NIGHT BACKYARD CAMPING… JUST BECAUSE!
Our final left-of- centre use for your swag is also our favourite, because we just love sleeping in
our swags. Friday night, no work the next day, you’ve got the barbie going and the firepit is
crackling too. Perfect opportunity to roll out your swag in the backyard and get a proper fix of

camping without having to spend a cent on fuel. Doesn’t matter if you’re camping out the back
or up in Cape York, camping is camping right? And when you’ve got your swag on hand, camping
is whenever you want it to be.
