Fire Pit Benfits

When you think of camping, I can almost guarantee the first thing that comes to mind, is a campfire! With that being said, and as much as they are common and everyone has had them before, they can be dangerous if you do not follow guidelines to keep yourself and the environment around you safe. The safest option is to keep it well contained and ensure that the area around you is kept neat and tidy to stop the possibility of sparking a fire beyond your control. First things first is to ensure you have a good spot to make a fire, and this can mean clearing a small dry area from all excess twigs and leaves. Keeping a few square metres of space completely clear of volatile materials can help to make sure your campfire is a safe one. If you have to build your fire on the ground, then consider using a small shovel to dig a little hollow to protect the base of the fire from wind for ease of lighting and to stop it spreading if the wind picks up. Be sure to check above you also as many people don’t pay enough attention to the trees and other structures that may be within reach when the flames start climbing. If the heat becomes too intense these overhead areas can easily catch fire which can cause catastrophic outcomes for you and others around, you and may even cause bush fires. There are plenty of resources available to let you know the basic guidelines when it comes to when, and where you can have a fire, if you haven’t previously done a little bit of research into fire bans, then you may just be surprised at how far restrictions can span. Especially around public areas like reserves and forests, where some types of fires may be prohibited altogether. Once you’ve checked the local guidelines for the area you wish to set up camp and have a nice camp fire for a bit of warmth and to cook up your dinners, then be sure to do it as safely as possible and remember to keep an extra eye on young children and vulnerable people that may not understand just how badly injured you can become from getting too close to a fire or even just hot coals.

Another way to improve the safety of your fire is to incorporate a fire pit, which as mentioned before can be done by digging down, or use a man made one which sits above ground to keep it all contained. The Kings Premium Stainless Steel Folding Firepit is a must have in winter to help contain your camp fire keeping it safe from causing small spot fires and protecting it from wind and moisture from the sides to keep it burning all night long. Able to be setup in a matter of seconds and having a steel base plate to help collect and contain any excess hot coals which may fall from the fire, and also allows you to have a small campfire even on a grassed area which will be protected by this plate! This new version of a fire bucket is a large improvement on the 44-gallon drum with a hole cut in the side! Coming with its own hardy storage bag and virtually folding up to nothing to get in there, it is 100% portable and will fit in to your camping section with ease. With a unique funnel shape toward the bottom, it is the perfect fire pit for containing the hot coals at the base and allowing enough air flow underneath any logs you place on it to keep it burning with plenty of excess heat.

How often can you decide to move your camp setup because you’re not happy with where you are, but you can’t because you have a raging campfire that you just don’t want to have to get burning again? Well, the amazing heavy duty handles on this fire drum are perfect for allowing you to glove up and grab one side with a mate grabbing the other and simply move it to exactly where you want it, even while the fire is still burning. The steel baseplate is attached to the legs so it will come wherever you take the pit for ease of setting up a second time in one night.

An added bonus of having your fire raised up off the ground is the amount of effort and money it will save you when trying to heat up a campsite. As it is physically closer to you then you will naturally feel a larger heatmap coming from it and will not lose as much heat directly into the ground like you would be using no fire pit and simply laying your logs in the dirt and lighting them up. By having it throw off more heat, you will be sure to use less wood as you won’t be chucking those logs on just to keep it feeling hot.

With a 42cm x 42cm square mouth at the top for your heat to radiate from, you will have plenty of spread where you and the family can sit without being in each other’s lap just to get a little warmth. As always, Kings comes through with the goods and has produced an optional extra to suit this specific firepit. That’s right, a grill! The perfect size to slot over the top of this little gem so that you can cook up a storm while keeping warm and not have the hassle of how to sit it above the flame. Simply clear out the logs and leave the hot coals or even heat beads in the base of the firepit and slip the grill over the top and you will have those perfectly chargrilled meals on the plate in no time, ready for you to restoke the fire and get the flame coming back. The firepit grill can be bought as a combo with the Kings Stainless Firepit and simply purchase it separately. Either way, you won’t disappoint your mates.
