Fitting a quality aluminium roof rack like the ones in the Adventure Kings Aluminium Roof Rack range is truly a simple DIY project that anyone with typical handyman tools can accomplish in just an afternoon.

Adventure Kings Aluminium roof racks are made from incredibly high-quality aircraft grade 6063 aluminium. This is the perfect material for constructing roof racks as it is incredibly strong, whilst being amazingly light weight. In fact they’re so lightweight that one person can lift them!

Installation is straight forward, and just like any job, preparation is key, before installation, it’s important to clean your vehicles roof thoroughly and allow to dry properly before beginning installation, this will make sure that there isn’t any excess dirt or build up in the areas we are working in.

Each of the Adventure Kings Aluminium Roof Rack kits includes all of the hardware you require to get your vehicle upgraded with extra storage, before we progress with installation is to take stock of the supplied items.

The first step of installation is to orient your roof rack rails (included in the kit), they are directional and have a specific orientation, when mounted up, the roof rack track is designed to have the foam tape which is pre fitted, this foam tape runs along the outside of the channel on the vehicle roof.  Once you have found the correct orientation, you can begin to install, lay out the hardware specified in the diagrams included for one side at a time, we recommend fully installing one side completely at a time,

Mark out the location of your new roof rack rail on the rubber trim of your vehicles roof, and trim and remove the trim that is no longer required.

Depending the vehicle, mounting your new roof rack tracks can have a few different methods for mounting, however removing the rubber strip along your roof line typically offers up some pre threaded holes, and exposes the metal of the roof, by mounting up your rail with a handful of the fasteners to secure the strip into place for drilling accurately.

Using a drill stop and the included drill bit you can use the strip as a guide being careful to not drill too deep, drill out the locations for the pop rivets. With your holes drilled, unbolt the channel and vaccum up any excess swarf on your vehicles roof, this will prevent scratching the vehicles paint. Line new drill holes with cold galvanizing paint, then once the cold gal coating has dried fill the holes with mastic silicone sealant, including the threaded holes in your roof line, along with their surrounds.

Aligning your new roof rack rail with the bolt holes you can now begin to install them for the final time, using the locating bolts first then pop riveting the remaining holes into place, making sure to follow the recommended pattern in the included instructions.

Once your tracks are completely installed you can begin to assemble the full roof rack system, this involves mounting the feet to the roof rack panel and making sure you have everything fastened together for mounting up to your freshly installed roof rails.

Simply lift the roof rack up onto the roof rack channels and fasten all of your remaining fasteners.
