Power Supply

The modern day and age offers plenty of digital gadgets we all rely on for navigation, entertainment, and even to help capture your 4WD trip on film!

By having enough power to run your campsite setup you don’t have to be so cautious with your power consumption. There are 2 main power supplies you can setup for your campsite. A 12v system or a portable camping generator.

With a portable campsite generator, you can have unrestricted access to 240v power, which allows you to plug in all of your chargers and accessories. Many campers use a generator coupled with an AC-DC battery charger from the CTEK range to keep their 12v accessories cranking along!

The second setup is adding an AGM deep cycle 12v battery and a battery management system like the CTEK D250SA to manage and redivert power throughout the system. A dual battery system allows you to completely isolate your accessory battery from your starter battery meaning you can use the full capacity of your 12v system. All whilst you can still turn your motor over in the morning

The Added benefits to installing a quality battery management system, is its ability to manage charge, this means if you have one of the Adventure Kings Fixed Solar panel systems you can hook up your solar directly to the D250SA, which will automatically divert and convert the power to charge the battery that needs it most.

Fresh Water

When heading out to camp for free, particularly in more isolated areas, Australia, isn’t particularly known for its vast unending water supplies, with some areas being in drought for decades, you should definitely consider bringing water with you, for cooking cleaning and drinking.

Whilst many people don’t attempt to drink from the water supplies available, if you are planning on this, you should bring some form of water treatment. Whether its from a tank a dam or a pond, you should always boil your water for at least 10 minutes to protect against Giardia, Cryptosporidium, and other harmful pathogen.

This process is important for your pets as well. Dogs are susceptible to the same pathogens as humans and dirty water can make mans best friend feeling under the weather!

Portable Refrigeration

Communication is the key!  

Whilst being in more remote areas free camping can be extremely liberating, by giving yourself the tools to escape society, you also somewhat remove your ability to call for help in a dire emergency, this is why every free camping rig should be hooked up with a reliable and long range 2 way radio communications system.

With an Oricom UHF380 kit fitted with the included 6.5dB antenna connected it allows you to easily communicate up to 20km, and even more when using duplex mode. During an emergency DUPLEX mode coupled with the emergency frequency can allow you to not only send a message over 100km but receive a response.
