If you’re after a super quick and easy meal then you can’t beat using a microwave – whether you’re craving two minute noodles or a quick snack like microwave popcorn it’s easy with your complete energy pack – just connect the inverter to the battery box, then plug your microwave in and give it a go! A good tip here is to make sure your microwave has an input power of less than 1500W – and this can catch people out, because a 700 Watt microwave usually has an input power of around 1200W and if you’re trying to use a microwave advertised as around 1200W or more then it’s likely to have an input power around 1500W or higher which the inverter will struggle with. Like always when you’re using your inverter if you’re using it at full power then it will pull a lot of current from your battery – a microwave with an input power of 1200W will draw around 100A instantaneous and about 1.7Ah for every minute that it’s up and running – so the key is to only use it for quick meal options!

Another awesome appliance to run with the inverter in your complete energy pack is an induction cooktop! While they’re a high power option, the great thing about induction is that it’s highly efficient and super fast to heat up and cook so you’re not wasting time or energy. An awesome meal to make is a stir fry – particularly a beef stir fry means you’re only cooking for about 5 minutes – just brown the meat, throw in your noodles, sauce and veggies and you’ll be done! It’s a meal that will keep everyone happy on a cold night! Using your inverter with an induction cooktop is an easy way to make a quick breakfast too – bacon and eggs are ready to go in minutes with no gas and no need to build up a fire. Induction cooktops are usually adjustable by watts so it’s easy to set the level below what your inverter is able to put out and just as easy to calculate how much power you will have used from your battery! As well as microwaves and induction cooktops, the inverter in a complete energy pack is perfect for hot drinks or making a real coffee wherever you are! Again, so long as your coffee machine is less than 1500W your inverter will be able to power it up and you’ll be enjoying a hot fresh coffee in minutes. People get caught out with coffee machines if they try and steam or froth the milk the same time as the high pressure pump in the coffee machine is making the actual coffee – so if you can, make the coffee shot  then froth and heat the milk just after you’ll have more luck and be using less power out of the battery at the one time! Adventure Kings inverters do have a peak power rating double their rated output, so you might be ok, but it will be pulling a lot of power from your deep cycle battery which isn’t ideal if it can be avoided!

The lesson to learn from all this is that your Adventure Kings Inverter is easily able to power anything up to 1500W but the more power you’re using at the one time the more power you’ll pull from your Deep Cycle Battery. If they’re high powered devices then use them for short periods and if they’re lower power you can use them longer for the same overall power. An example of this is a 100W laptop charger running for 5 hours is the same as a 1000W appliance for just half an hour! Batteries actually have a little less capacity if you pull a high amount of current from them at the one time, so be mindful of your battery and ensure you’re always using your portable solar kit to charge the battery while you’re drawing power from it to minimise the overall power draw. Similarly after you’re finished using your inverter, make sure you let your solar kit continue charging your battery back up until it’s full or as close to full as possible. AGM Deep Cycle Batteries don’t ‘like’ being discharged and they don’t like being left discharged for any amount of time. So the more often you keep them on regulated solar charge the better.
