Brisbane to Townsville Road-trip Part 3

January 29, 2022   |   By Brisbane to Townsville Road-trip Part 3 - image 200727-Kings-Kayaks-Lawn-Hill-42-of-46 on https://news.emgcloud.net/news

Welcome back return readers, but if this is your first time make sure you check out Brisbane to Townsville Road-trip Part 1 and Part 2.  For those of you that have read all three, I sincerely thank you and I’m so happy you enjoyed the stories so far. But it’s not over yet, starting at Arlie Beach, part 3 is going to be a wild ride.

As we set sail for Arlie beach, myself, Josh, Nick, Dave, Sean, John, Max, Lewis and Liam were feeling fresh and ready to party. After around four hours of driving, we saw our first sign welcome to Arlie, by this time however we were feeling slightly less fresh. Not to worry though DJ Sean was to the rescue. Sean grabbed the Bluetooth speaker and blasted a song none of us had heard before, not even Sean new what the song was. He just googled absolute bangers to try and pump everybody up. The song was a Vini Vici remix of the song Free Tibet by the artist Hilight Tribe. I highly recommend if you’re in the mood to give it a go. The song goes for around eight minutes, as soon as DJ Sean hit that play button on the Bluetooth speaker, we we’re instantly captivated by the unusual melody. After four minutes of the longest build up I’ve ever heard. The music dropped the biggest and funniest base drop I’ve ever heard. So, we were hooked, it well and truly got us pumping and thus became the theme song of our Adventure.

We rolled into Arlie ready to rock, but Josh had a surprise for us rather then staying at Arlie Beach he’d in fact booked us in at Hamilton Island. So, we left our camping gear behind and all jumped on the ferry super excited, but this didn’t last long. Lewis was the first to drop, he suddenly ran to the back of the boat and threw up over board and was soon followed by John. It felt like something out of a Zombie movie, everyone was slowly becoming “infected”. About halfway into the boat ride everyone was either out the back spewing or using a paper bag. All but two that was, Liam and I were sitting pretty at the front of the boat loving the ride. It was so rough it felt like we were on a tow tube

land ho, finally we made it after the tortuous journey the rest of the boys were so happy to be back on dry land they could have kissed the ground. Hamilton Island is one of the Whitsunday Island situated on the Great Barrier Reef and was absolutely beautiful.

After checking into our hotel all we wanted to do is get in the crystal clear water. So, we each grabbed a Standup Paddleboard from the hire shop and hit the water. It felt like we we’re in a commercial, slowly paddling our SUPs along the beautiful tropical waters. That was until the games begun, John was admiring a beautiful fish down below as I whacked him with my oar sending him flying off his Standup Paddleboard. Bang, seconds later John was in hysterics as I was clinging to my SUP because Liam had given me a shove. It transpired to an all out water sports war. The eight of us had a blast tackling, shoving and whacking each other it was a true challenge to stay on your Standup Paddleboard for longer than a few seconds.

Absolutely exhausted we made our way back to the land. We then decided to have a well earned nap under the beach umbrellas that were already setup. Unfortunately, there weren’t quite enough so to escape the hot sun we huddled under the three beach umbrella laying basically on top of each other. Next minute comes two staff members holding a gazebo sun shade, they placed it down and set it up right next to us for us to use. We felt like millionaires getting this luxury service with gazebo sun shades at our beck and call. Not to long after that all eight of us were sound asleep.

The next morning, we woke up bright and early in time for our complementary buffet breakfast. Due to the fact it was free, that in the mind of eight blokes meant a challenge. So, we each loaded up our plates with everything from potato bake to bacon and eggs. We all ate so much I legit felt the need to unbutton my pants.

Max had booked us in for a Kayak tour, so still feeling full from breakfast we slowly made our way there. As we got to the beach I noticed and array of single seat Kayaks, however then I saw there was only in fact seven plus one double kayak. At that moment I started to run, the boys soon clued on to what I was doing and followed not far behind. Dave was the unlucky last place and had to Kayak with the tour guide. The tour however was amazing we explored coral reefs so beautiful they were fit for a postcard.

All was going well until Nick happened, Nick’s a mad keen fisherman and had the entire trip brought along he’s Fishing Rod & Reel. He’d been pestering the group any chance he got to go fishing but none of us we’re keen. Little did we know Nicks Fishing Rod was a travel rod so that means it packs down into a compact size. So, it can easily be placed in your backpack, a backpack that is with you in the kayak.

What happens next is a moment I’ll never forget, so to find out our kayak tour outcome and here more of our adventure stories. look out for Brisbane to Townsville Road-trip Part 4 which will be posted tomorrow.
