October 10, 2017   |   By ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OZ’S BEST EAST COAST CAMPSITES - image 171009-ColedaleCampSetup-1594 on https://news.emgcloud.net/news

Let’s face it – there’s nothing better than Spring & Summer in Australia. The weather’s warm and it’s the perfect time to hit the tracks and the best campsites. But the best part if you ask us is a no-brainer – our sensational beaches!

We’re bloody lucky in Oz, there’s no denying it. We have over 35,000km of pristine coastline, which includes over 10,000 beaches, and we reckon it’s fair to say that the vast majority of them are crackers! From the epic scenery of Bruny Island in Tassie to the tip of the Dampier Peninsula in WA, we have a hugely varying coastline, and the best part is that we’re able to experience more of it than anyone else!

So here we have it – sit back and get planning because here are some of Oz’s cracking East-Coast campsites you won’t wanna miss!

KINKUNA BEACH, BURRUM COAST, QLD

FEES: $6.15 per night
FACILITIES: No toilets, no pets, fires allowed
ACTIVITIES: Fishing, 4WDing, swimming

BEST SUITED TO: Couples or families looking for a crowd-free coastal experience

This insanely stunning coastal camp offers loads of un-designated campsites right up off the beach in the dunes. Take your pick, you’ll get one at least 100m away from the next person most of the time, with most of them having unbelievable beach views. Un-crowded, unreal fishing and loads of nearby 4WDing, this is how Teewah was twenty years ago!

PEBBLY BEACH, NSW

FACILITIES: Toilets, campfires permitted, no pets
ACTIVITIES: Fishing, swimming, bushwalking
SUPPLIES: Halfway Creek
BEST SUITED TO: Anyone looking for epic coastal camping

Pebbly Beach needs no introduction as we tend to talk about it a fair bit. There’s a good reason for that – it is simply one of the best coastal campsites anywhere in Oz. Wake up on a pristine grassy campsite, and walk just metres down to the beach where you can take a swim or have a fish. Keen fishos should checkout the beach south of the river crossing – not only is it a cracker of a spot to land whiting, it’s also perfect for catching beach worms.

MIDDLE CREEK, EURIMBULA, QLD

FEES: $5.60 per person
FACILITIES: Toilets, fires permitted, no pets
ACTIVITIES: Fishing, boating, swimming

BEST SUITED TO: Families looking for easy adventure

Is there anything better than popping your head out of your swag to uninterrupted waterfront views? Middle Creek Campground in Eurimbula Nation Park is waterfront camping at its finest, with green grass underfoot and the water’s edge just a few metres away. There’s some sensational fishing right from your campsite, and those looking for off-road adventure won’t have to look far.

MUNGO BRUSH, MYALL LAKES NATIONAL PARK, NSW

BEST SUITED TO: Families looking for accessible fun

Mungo Brush Campsite is the perfect family getaway, thanks to being highly accessible. The downside to this is that the place can get extremely popular during peak times, so try to avoid heading there during school holidays if you don’t like crowds. Once you’re there, there’s loads of activities from sailboarding to fishing, and the nearby Mungo Beach offers soft-sand driving for the keen 4WD. The 4WD mecca of Bulahdelah is nearby too, so pack the recovery gear.

PORTLAND DUNES, VIC

FEES: $50 for 4-day membership

BEST SUITED TO: 4WDers keen for some dune driving
