How to Choose The Right Camp Gear For You

March 22, 2022   |   By How to Choose The Right Camp Gear For You - image About1t on https://news.emgcloud.net/news

This weekend just gone, my partner Mary and I, spent the weekend camping at Kenilworth campgrounds with our two friends Annie and Mick. Between the four of us we had a vast array of different camping gear. Which really goes to show how not every piece of camp gear suits everybody’s needs. Hence why on the market there is such an array of camping gear to not only cater to different personal styles but different camping styles too. So in this article I describe a few of the pieces of camp gear I personally like to use, and my various reasons why.

First up is one mighty handy piece of gear I made good use of this trip just gone, and that’s a 2 In 1 Fan. As we rocked up to camp late Friday night when I set up the tent, I forgot to consider which way the sun would rise in the morning. So early Saturday morning my partner and I woke up to what felt like a sauna as the sun beamed through the nylon tent. Not to worry I simply wacked on the tent fan I’d installed but hadn’t needed the night before, and the gentle breeze was enough to send us back to sleep. Another reason I love the tent fan is not for the fan at all but the fact it is also a light. The tent fan light is super easy to illuminate the entire tent as it hangs from the ceiling. So, you no longer have to scurry around looking for your underwear with nothing but your head torch on. Simply flick on the portable light fan and you’ll have a well lit tent just like your bedroom.

In no particular order next on the list is an Aluminium Roll Up Table. For years I camped using a trestle table, but when you camp often enough you soon begin to realise how much not only size but weight is an issue when packing your rig. That’s why I love my Roll Up Camping Table as due to the aluminium construction its incredibly light weight. Not only that but unlike a trestle table that simply just folds in the middle a Foldable Aluminium Table completely folds into itself plus the table top rolls up. This creates an extremely portable design. So, portability is truly my favourite thing about my Aluminium Roll Up Table.

Next up is either a portable gazebo or awning, these two are like the tomato sauce debate, does it live in the pantry or the fridge. Personally, my belief is why not have both. I love having a portable gazebo at camp as I can position it wherever I want to, then use my vehicle as a privacy barrier to create a little oasis even at a busy campsite. I also love the fact about portable gazebo that you can leave them and your gear setup underneath and head off for a daytrip in your vehicle. This is not only easy but also a perfect way of reserving your campsite particularly if you have a roof top tent as it will be coming with you as well. Both of these points I in fact did over the weekend at the Kenilworth campgrounds. On the other hand the reason I like having both, is then when your on your daytrip adventure If you want to stop for lunch or have a spell at a scenic location with a car awning you have easy to setup portable shade always at the ready.

Now to perfectly complement both my car awning and gazebo I love using my Mesh Floor. A mesh floor is perfect if you’re at a particularly dirty or sandy campsite. The reason for this is a Mesh Floor helps you stop trekking sand, dirt and even mud through your campsite. This is got to be close to my favourite piece of camp gear, as being a Queenslander I love my beach camping. However, I can’t stand trying to fall asleep with sand in my bed, so a Mesh Floor is truly worth it for me.

Another thing I love, is a good night sleep hence why I’m a big fan of the self inflating mattress. Not this camping trip just gone but the one before, as I had most of the camping gear my partner said she’d bring all the bedding. It wasn’t until we got to camp another late Friday night that we then realised that the mattress she brought was in fact one with an inbuilt pump. Which would have been great if that pump didn’t feature a 240 volt wall socket. So with no inverter insight we we’re stuck making a mattress out of jumpers at eleven thirty at night. Therefore I’m now even more of a fan of my self inflating mattress as not only is it easy to use and super comfy its also fool proof because it doesn’t even require a pump.

Lastly but certainly not least is a Hammock, having a gentle swing in a hammock at camp is truly something special. Better yet the Hammock I have is a double hammock, so both my partner and I can climb in and have a relaxing afternoon together. She’s an avid book reader so she loves nothing more than having a read in the dual hammock, I on the other hand am perfectly happy to use this time to take a cheeky afternoon nap.

As you can see, there is such a variety of reasons certain pieces of camping gear may or may not work for you. This article is just my opinion, but I hoped it’s helped you realise which pieces of camp gear you may yourself enjoy.
