Why everyone should give CAMPING a go

February 24, 2022   |   By Why everyone should give CAMPING a go - image king_wing_mesh_floor_1_1 on https://news.emgcloud.net/news

Living in the land down under camping is almost a way of life. There such a magnitude of benefits to the joys of camping.

One particular benefit that’s becoming increasingly necessary in today’s world is the ability to switch off. This works best when you are in fact setup at camp somewhere remote without cell phone service. This gives you the freedom to forget about the stresses of everyday life. Even if you are in cell service range camping is still a good excuse to put the phones away. Our modern day world moves at such a fast pace, to be “successful” it seems you must be always on the go moving at a hundred miles an hour. Now I’m certainly not advocating against this, I’m all for pushing as hard as you can and getting the most out of life. But as the age old saying goes, you have to make time to smell the roses. A Harvard study actually showed that nine out of ten men’s biggest regret on their death bed was they worked too much and didn’t spend enough quality time with their family.

Speaking of quality time this is another huge advantage of camping in the great outdoors. We fall into the large trap in the modern era of “socialising” online, in games and various other virtual ways. This is all well and good in small doses but doing it all the time is when it starts to become a serious issue. When coming home after work rather than spending quality time with each other, families now seem to go to their separate rooms and either play on their devices or socialise virtually. This is not a quality way to build a strong family bond. Some families don’t even have dinner together anymore. This may seem like a small detail but catching up on those small details about each other’s lives is how you truly connect and become a wholesome family unit. That’s why camping can be such a great family bonding experience. Due to the fact you often sit around a camp fire talking about each others lives only then to later have a quality camp meal around the table. Not only that but due to the fact that you can’t bring all your house hold distractions of entertainment with you at camp this means you have to resort to different methods of entertainment. Camping funnily enough is a lot like traveling back in time there’s no cell phones, no internet, you normally have to cook over the fire and you have to sleep in tents or swags. This goes the same for forms of entertainment, rather than using our modern day solo forms of entertainment camping forces us to enjoy each other’s company and revert back to old school games. This can be anything from card games, dares, board games and many other group bonding games. Camping truly is the best way to bond and create lasting memories with people.

Not only does camping give us a good reason to put the smart phones away particularly if there’s no service. It also gives us a good reason to put our other devices and distraction away too. As well as leading an extremely busy modern day life, our so call wined down time is pump full of noisy distractions. The ability to truly wined down is something we could all get better at. Coming home and sitting in front of the tv all night is certainly not a healthy way to unwind. It’s believed a large portion of society uses distractions such as the television, the internet or gaming as a way to escape our inner thoughts. Now this may be all well and good in small doses, but this cannot be a sustainable way of life.  This is why, without sounding to physiological, camping can be great for your sole. Many people find it extremely difficult to reek the benefits from meditation. In fact it takes most people multiple years of practice to be at peace with there inner thoughts. That is why camping can be so beneficial, it is the perfect balance of switching off but at the same time with enough healthy distractions that your mind doesn’t dwell on things. Trust me after a week of camping you will be so incredibly surprised of just how refreshed you feel, inside and out.

Another great benefit that camping brings us that we seem to be lacking in our modern day lives is skills. Camping can help teach us bare basic survival skills that will help you if you ever find yourself in the unfortunate situation of fighting for your life. This can be anything from hunting, to starting a fire or even building shelter. But not only can camping teach you survival skills but it can also teach you every day handy skills to have. With more work switching to office style jobs rather then farming or even trades man then everyday skills our parents and their parents took for granted are being lost. I’ve learnt most of my life skills from family camping trips with my Dad.  Now it doesn’t have to be anything major even just basic skills like using tools to fix things, chopping fire wood with an axe, splitter or even a chainsaw or learning how to get a car started when your miles from help. Research shows that camping has a significant benefit on a person’s ability to perform lateral thinking. That’s  because when things don’t go quite right, unlike being in the city its not as simple as calling for help. So, it’s a necessity to have the ability to nut things out and fix it or come up with a solution by yourselves.

Now I hope you can see for yourself the magnitude of benefits camping can bring you. From the obvious fun aspects to the less known but inheritably strong health benefits or even the ability camping has on building strong relationships. So, I hope this article has inspired you to start camping more often or better yet if you haven’t before get out there and give it a go.
