A Camper trailer Adventure Part 2

February 2, 2022   |   By A Camper trailer Adventure Part 2 - image 200727-MT1-Camper-Trailer-Queensland-RD-Trip-91-of-107 on https://news.emgcloud.net/news

Before diving into this Adventurous tail make sure you have read part one to get the most out of this hilarious journey. Before I continue my story, I’ll start with a small recap, myself and eight of my good mates Dave, Josh, Naz, Nick, Liam, Lewis, Max and Sean had decided to go on a boys trip to double island. It was our mid year semester break for university in the year 2013.

Now at the end of part 1 myself and the boys had found our dream campsite. It was perfect, it featured an epic view thanks to the small sand dune and was large enough to fit all eight of us. The only issue was the sand was incredibly soft and Nick was yet to drive in towing his Dad’s camper trailer.

Before Nick made his way into the campsite, Josh jumped on the UHF and pre warned him of the soft sand with some strict instructions to give it some berries. In low range nick came harling in, he in fact did an extremely good job. He came in making a perfect arch in order to place the camper trailer in the ideal position. His car then did in fact get bogged but that was nearly inevitable and worth the risk to get the camper trailer in the prime spot to enjoy our scenic view.

Not to worry with enough boys for a footy team we could certainly get him unstuck. So, we unhitched the camper trailer and brought back the bobsled team. The car was well and truly bogged so we needed all the muscle we could get. Josh had a dodgy back, so we put him in the driver seat and nick join the bobsledders out the back. After starting our bobsled chant, we where ready to go. Josh gave it some berries and away we pushed. We could hardly see there was that much sand, but the car slowly started to move. Nick’s dad camper trailer was getting absolutely sprayed with sand. Then suddenly we got it over the hump Josh gained traction and away he went.

Nick looked back at his Dad’s camper trailer which now resembled a ship wreck washed ashore. He was mortified, Sean then piped up calming there was almost more sand on it than the island. The rest of us burst out laughing, Nick however didn’t quite find the funny side. That was until we open the camper trailer doors to find that the inside was completely clean. The heavy duty seals had done the trick and the sand was simply just on the exterior. So as long as we gave the camper trailer a wash before Nick’s Dad saw It, he’d never know. Now put at ease he hadn’t ruined his Dad’s camper trailer Nick gave off a huge sigh of relief. Although unfortunately this didn’t last long.

As Nick went over to his parked car to roll his windows up, his stomach dropped. Nick had come to the frightening realization he didn’t have his keys on him. Originally, he thought Josh had them but as Nicks car is a push button start, and his car was already on, Nick never took the keys out of his pocket. That was when the penny really dropped, the last time he had them was before pushing his car. So that meant the keys fell out Nicks pocket somewhere in the bobsled sandstorm. To make matters worse his car key also had the keys to the camper trailer. So, all our precious food and beer was locked inside the camper trailer.

We spent the next two hours digging and searching for the camper trailer keys with no such luck, also for Nicks car keys but at this point the hunger was setting in. So, we were desperate to find those camper trailer keys. It was completely dark at this point, so we finally called it quits.

As all our food was locked in the camper trailer we had nothing for dinner, luckily Josh had three boxes of cereal in his car. So, after a hard days work the eight of us sat around the camp fire and enjoyed serval bowls each of dry cereal. Although this may seem like a terrible situation, a true testament to our friendship is we found it hilarious and still had a good time.

Nick made, the dreaded phone call to his Dad to not only tell him the situation but ask if he can bring the spare keys to his car and the camper trailer. Good thing Nick’s dad is an absolute legend and agreed to drop the keys off in the morning.

For once Nicks foolishness worked in our favor, as he’d forgotten to lock the storage compartment of the camper trailer.  So, we couldn’t access food, but we could grab our swags, so we had somewhere to sleep.

The Next morning Nick feeling bad had borrowed Josh’s car and gotten up bright and early by himself to meet his Dad on the main land for the camper trailer and car keys. Exhausted from the day before the rest of us had a huge sleep in. So, we in fact woke up to ultimate redemption, now with access to the camper trailer pantry Nick had cooked us bacon and eggs for breakfast. So, I slowly awoke to the sweet smells of crispy bacon wafting from the camper trailer to my swag, hearing nothing but the calming crashing waves of the ocean. It was a wake up suited for a commercial.

Eating enough food to feed and army the eight of us sat around the table having a good laugh at our adventure so far. This had already been a truly unique boy’s trip and we cheers to many more hilarious journeys to come.
