The Australian Sun

February 27, 2022   |   By The Australian Sun - image Untitled-2 on https://news.emgcloud.net/news

Australia, the land down under, the great southern land what every you would like to call it, there’s no doubt it’s certainly one great place. What we are best known for here in the land of OZ is our cracking good weather. Blue skies and hot sunny days is truly the Australian way. The sun although incredibly great has some negative side effects. Skin cancer is the leading form of cancer in Australia. More than two Australians every hour die from skin cancer and being burnt more than five times doubles your risk of developing a melanoma. That is why remembering to wear sunscreen and constantly reapplying is crucial but is not however the only solution. In order to reduce skin cancer and sun burn you should seek shade as often and wherever possible.

Other than our great weather another thing the land down under is known for is our even greater beaches. These beautiful beaches are a hot spot for sunburn and skin damage. Hence why seeking shade at the beach is such an important thing to do. A great way to seek shade at the beach is with a beach umbrella. There are so many benefits to a beach umbrella it helps prevent sunburn and damage from the harsh Australian sun.  A beach umbrella is also a good way to cool down when the day gets a tad too hot. Before purchasing a beach umbrella make sure you do some research into what makes a for a quality product. As you are rarely at the beach by yourself it’s important to look for a beach umbrella that is big enough for more than one person. In saying that if your beach umbrella is for many people, it will soon become extremely large and hard to travel with. Therefore, a two person beach umbrella is quite an optimal size as its larger than a single but small enough that it is still portable. A two metre diameter is the perfect size beach umbrella to fit two people. The next thing to look into is the type of fabric the shade cloth is actually made of. A light breathable fabric is beneficial to allow the breeze to still flow through. Although make sure the beach umbrella is not too thin that it is not only weak but also poor at providing adequate shade. 210D Oxford Fabric is a nylon material that is a perfect middle ground for a beach umbrella that is breathable whilst still creating sufficient sun blockage. Whilst still on the topic of construction material of the beach umbrellas the frame can literally be the make or break factor between a quality beach umbrella or a dodgy subpar umbrella. A sturdy steel frame construction is an excellent choice to prevent bending in the strong sea breeze.  To ensure you are getting the most out of your portability look for an extendable beach umbrella.  A good height to look for is two meters once fully extended this is a quality mix between being large enough to enjoy but also small enough to still be portable.

Now that we have discussed the ways to avoid the harsh rays of the Australian sun its time to talk about some effective ways to harness it. On a short camping trip, it is quite easy to pack the clothes you need to last you the entirety of the journey and be done with it. Simply throw all your dirty clothes into a bag and worry about washing them when you get home. If you are however going on an extended trip than suddenly this becomes not a very viable option. So, for long adventures like a lap around Australia some form of clothes washing and drying arrangement needs to be thought of. For washing your clothes on the road there are a few options. The simple and possibly easiest option is to use laundromats, however a negative of this is that if you are on extended trip penny saving is a big priority thus this could become quite expensive. A good way however to save money is to only use the laundromat for washing and then bring your wet clothes back to camp and hang them on a camping clothesline to dry. Another negative of laundromats is if you are camping or traveling remote you may not see one for weeks. That is however the benefit of camping clotheslines as they are designed to be collapsible and thus are extremely portable. Meaning you can take your camping clothesline to wherever your heart desires. Therefore, coming up with a portable washing option would be a great duo with a camping clothesline.

The best thing about camping clotheslines is once the initial cost of the line itself is paid for then it’s completely free to keep using. By harnessing the free energy of the Australian sun. The next benefit of course is unlike a traditional line a camping clothesline is extremely portable. Some brands even pack up well enough to be stored in the under storage compartment of a caravan. Before deciding what camping clothesline to purchase make sure you know the key benefits and features to look out for. Obviously, portability is key so look for a camping clothesline that folds into itself in order to take up as little space as possible. A three legged design camping clothesline will offer exceptional sturdiness, which is a key benefit when leaving washing in the wind. A three leg design is also the optimal number to keep the camping clothesline portable as the legs fold in a tripod fashion. To complement the sturdy design three sides of lines is the best design to prevent the camping clothesline tipping over. Finally in order to have adequate line space to hang the washing a run of six lines will certainly do the trick.

The Australian sun is a powerful beast but with a quality beach umbrella it won’t stop you enjoying a nice hot day at the beach and with a camping clothesline you’ll be able to harness the sun for your own benefit.
