HOW TO CUSTOMISE YOUR REAR DRAWER SETUP

May 23, 2021   |   By Cahn Turner HOW TO CUSTOMISE YOUR REAR DRAWER SETUP - image drawers1 on https://news.emgcloud.net/news

If you want to improve your rear storage in your 4WD, Ute or van and you’re after a custom rear drawer setup then of course you can start from scratch and make the entire rear drawer set yourself. Another option is to pay a cabinet maker big bucks to make a fitted drawer setup but at the end of the day, the best value and easiest way is to start with a set of Titan Rear Drawers and then build your dream drawer setup from there. On their own Titan Drawers are feature packed but there are so many ways to make them your own and with a range including single drawers, twin drawers and even DIY wing kits you can make just about anything work in any vehicle

If you want a sleek and simple setup it’s hard to beat a single drawer. Using one rear drawer leaves you plenty of space for bulky items on the other side – plus a huge benefit is it allows you to run a fridge slide at a lower height next to the single drawer. A low fridge slide is ideal for utes where you need the clearance to slide the fridge out of your canopy, plus it makes it easy to access the fridge in taller 4WDs too. If you still need more storage space, the great thing about a Titan single Drawer is that you can stack them on top of each other fairly simply by utilising the pre-threaded holes on the top side of the lower drawer. Titan single Drawers are available in two sizes – first the 900mm single drawer and second the larger 1300mm single drawer. Both of these are the same height and width which makes them easy to stack even if you want two different sizes.

Stepping up to the next level is a set of Titan twin rear drawers. These are hugely popular on their own as is, or as a base to make a serious custom drawer setup. They’re available in three sizes – first there are the 900 double drawers. These measure 900mm long by 1000mm wide by 270mm tall and are ideal for smaller wagons like the Toyota Prado, or many people use them as a base for custom rear drawers in their trailer or ute canopy. Next there are the 1070 rear drawers – these are better suited to larger wagons such as the Nissan Patrol and Toyota LandCruiser and measure in at 1070mm wide by 990mm long by 270mm tall. Titan rear drawers are also available with wing infill kits to suit many popular models such as the80, 100 and 200 Series LandCruiser as well as the GQ and GU Patrol. Next up are the 1300mm twin drawers which are commonly called ute drawers because they fit nicely in most modern dual cabs. These measure 1000mm wide, 1300mm long and 240mm high. The lower overall height makes them better suited to utes with tonneau covers or canopies so you can maximise your space for bulkier items like camping fridges or sporting gear. Double Rear Drawers use a tough galvanised steel frame and gal steel drawer tubs with roller bearings for smooth sliding even when they’re loaded up. They’re also marine carpeted inside and out for a great looking finish and the left hand drawer comes with a built in fridge slide that makes accessing your camping fridge easy.

There is a DIY wing kit that is designed to make fitting a set of 1300 ute drawers into your ute tub much more neat and tidy too – it comes with the brackets, timber, carpet and fittings you need to fully set up your custom drawer system – all you need to do is trim them to suit your vehicle or setup! Too easy! The DIY wing kit can be adapted to work with any of the other Titan rear drawers too whether you’re looking a single drawer or a twin set of drawers. If you’re after a great looking rear storage setup then you can’t go past a set of titan rear drawers with a wing kit – and the  best part is you won’t pay thousands and it’s easy to get a great looking finished final product because almost all of the hard work is already done for you! People have fit their Titan Rear Drawers in everything from ute tubs, to canopies, trailers, wagons and even vans! If you’re after more storage for your Van life build then definitely take a look at the Titan 1300 rear Drawers.

With a set of double drawers you can even stack a single drawer on top of the right hand drawer for three drawers total, while still retaining the lower left hand drawer with the built in fridge slide that make Titan Twin Rear Drawers so popular. Just like their bigger counterparts, the Titan Single Drawers are fitted with spring loaded stainless steel tie down points on top with marine carpet inside and out for a beautiful and practical finish. The frame is the same galvanised steel as the twin drawers for strength and it uses smooth and tough ball bearings so the drawer tub always slides out smoothly even when loaded up. It’s a similar process to stacking two single drawers too – just remove the tie down pints on the right hand drawer and utilise the threaded holes. Move the rails underneath the top draw and position them so they line up with the threaded holes in the top of the lower drawer and then tighten them up. This gives you a super solid set up and keeps everything looking neat and tidy for that really high end custom look.
