How to Install a Kings Centre Console Fridge

March 30, 2021   |   By How to Install a Kings Centre Console Fridge - image Untitled-1 on https://news.emgcloud.net/news

Whether you do long stretches behind the wheel or just need that little bit of extra fridge space, the Adventure Kings 15L Centre Console Fridge/Freezer is ideal.

This is a genuine compressor fridge, running a genuine Secop compressor! Just like the full range of Adventure Kings fridge/freezers, it can run as low as -18°C, or be set to any temperature up to +10°C with the easy-to-use digital controls and gauge.

We’ve designed this cracking fridge/freezer to be perfect for keeping bottles of water, cans of softdrink, chockie bars, sandwiches and even medication cold and within easy reach.

Or, use it as a small freezer to compliment your full-sized Adventure Kings camping fridge – there’s enough space in here for a week’s worth of frozen meat for two people!

It runs on 12v and 24v, so truckies, couriers and those who work behind the wheel will love it too. Imagine how much you’d save, making your own tucker and being able to keep it cold and fresh instead of relying on servos and takeaways – and how much healthier you’d eat too!

At 560mm long by 240mm wide by 375mm high, it fits perfectly between the front seats of many vehicles as a centre console replacement, and also features this clever belt-loop for securing onto a bench seat with a seatbelt.

Whether it’s for keeping food and drink cold and within easy reach up front, or as a freezer for longer trips, you’ll deadset love the new Adventure Kings 15L Centre Console Fridge Freezer – especially when you see the price!

In this article, I’m going to show you just how easy it is to mount the Adventure Kings 15L centre console fridge into your vehicle, replacing your factory centre console. This install will vary depending on your vehicle type but this should give you a pretty good idea of how to go about it no matter the vehicle type.

Before we get started you’ll first need to check that the centre console fridge will fit between the driver and passenger seats. You’ll need to ensure there’s adequate airflow to these vents on the front of the centre console fridge freezer so it can run effectively. Righto, the 12v fridge freezer measures in at 235mm wide and I have a perfect size gap between the two seats to fit it in. That gives me just enough on either side to play with which is plenty. Next step is to rip out the factory centre console – just look for the screws that’ll be holding it in – in your vehicle they may even be behind trim pieces.

Once you’ve got your centre console out, you’ll want to make up a nice flat base to position the camping fridge on, and keep it protected from the heat of the transmission tunnel. I’ve made mine by cutting out a piece of cardboard the same size as the base of the fridge, then adding about 20mm on the sides and about 50mm on the front and back.

I’ve then cut out a spot for my coin tray and handbrake lever, and then traced the cardboard template onto 20mm ply and cut it out with a circular saw and jigsaw. I’m also using these factory mounting points for the centre console to bolt down my base. After I drilled out the holes to bolt down the base, I’ve chucked some heavy duty marine carpet on top for a nice factory finish.

Now it’s time to bolt the base down and figure out how you’re going to secure the camping fridge to it. So the fridge looks unreal sitting on top of my base, so I’ve quickly run to the local hardware store and picked up a set of these d-ring anchor points. Now because I have limited space to play with at the front of the fridge, I’m only running one at the front, but I will run 2 at the back. Add in a couple of Adventure Kings fridge tie-down straps and your new centre console fridge is mounted firm!

Now onto the wiring. The Adventure Kings Centre Console fridge-freezer comes with a fridge cord, which I’m going to run neatly under the front of the centre console and plug it directly into my factory cig-soc outlet.

This factory plug has actually been wired up to my auxiliary battery using the Adventure Kings Fridge Wiring Kit, so that way it’s not draining my starter battery.

Once your wiring is all done, give everything a good tidy up and a vacuum and check the centre-console fridge works correctly by pressing this on button. Once the display screen appears, you can now adjust your temperature from 10°c all the way down to -18°c.

You’re going to love the Adventure Kings Centre Console Fridge Freezer. It’s so handy having a genuine camping fridge/freezer sitting right there next to the driver’s seat – having cold water and snacks on hand within easy reach is a game changer! If you’re like me and you do a lot of kays in your vehicle, this one will upgrade your driving experience like nothing else. It’s fantastic if you’ve already got a full-sized portable camping fridge mounted in the rear of your vehicle or in your offroad camper trailer, and even if you don’t use it for snacks you can set the temperature down as low as -18°C to use it as a camping freezer! That means your food will stay fresher for longer even on those big trips. I have never looked back since installing the Kings centre console fridge into my 4WD, and I know you’ll be the same, whether it’s in a camping rig, a work truck or van or anything in between!
