It seems like almost every campsite in Oz has a reliable Kings Fridge Freezer cranking away, offering reliable refrigeration wherever campers choose to set up. Offering real refrigeration, and not just a glorified ice box, the Adventure Kings range is capable of cooling to temperatures as low as -18°C and depending on the model, has two fully independently controllable compartments which offer versatility and practicality you wont find with any other track side solution.

But how do you get the absolute most out of your camping fridge setup without spending a single cent  more from your beer budget. We have some expert tips and tricks from our team that we have taken from years of camping experience on the tracks and by our experts who have racked up massive milage figures across our massive country.

Wash and dry

It’s a near certainty that everyone has messed up at least once, and left some food matter In the bottom of their camping fridge freezer or esky, only to open the lid a few months later to discover an atrocious smell and a filthy mess that must be cleaned up.

The best bet is to create a process for yourself of cleaning and airing out your fridge freezer before you pack it away, this will ensure you never leave moisture or rotting material in the bottom for future you to find and lament.

Protip; If you forget, don’t forget that your fridge freezer can be switched on before you clean it, plug your Kings fridge into the wall socket, and set it to the coldest setting, and leave for a day, this will ensure your rotting food matter will freeze rock solid and be much more easy to remove from your fridge.

Smells to destroy smells.

It seems counter intuitive, but if your fridge freezer, has developed a bit of a pong, you can fix the issue quickly and simply.

Our first resort is to cut a plain white or brown onion in half, and place it into your camping fridge and close the lid. Leave it overnight and the onion will absorb and extract the smells leaving you with a fridge that has a slight oniony smell. Remove the onion and  air out your Kings Fridge freezer again to allow the onion smell to dissipate and you’ll be left with a perfectly clean, brand-new smelling camping fridge.

another old method for removing stink from inside a fridge is to take a handful of bicarb soda and sprinkling a light dusting across the interior. Bicarb soda has the ability to absorb smells and will easily make your fridge smell odourless in a day or 2, don’t forget to clean the bicarb out with a simple wet cloth, allow the fridge to air out and you are ready to store your fridge until your next trip away.

Keep it clean!

This may seem irrelevant to the operation of your fridge freezer but the outside has just as much to do with fridge performance as the inside. By maintaining a clean fridge, you also will be easily able to spot any damage from the last trip particularly if it was floating around in the back of your vehicle, along with being able to remove any dust and debris from around your fridges air vents, dust will cause the fried to have to work a lot harder to keep cool and will restrict the flow of cool air around the internal heat exchange.

By keeping a clean fridge, you keep an efficient fridge, and will make your battery system last longer and your fridge work less hard, particularly through the warmer months.

Visually inspect your power source.

Every fridge relies on a power source, whether that is a Deep Cycle AGM battery or whether it is plugged into mains power. so it is critical to check that your fridge is receiving adequate power. it is important to firstly check that the power cable is sufficiently connected to the power port on your fridge, to make sure your cables are undamaged and don’t feel “floppy” next it is important to check the connection at the power source, whilst the cigarette lighter connection on Adventure Kings fridges is locking, to prevent vibrating loose on the tracks, not all sockets accommodate this function. Additionally long power leads between the battery supply and the fridge will result in voltage loss over the length of the cable.

Making sure your setup is sorted will save you headaches at camp and make your whole setup fuss free, for more info call our call centre on 1800 88 397 64 jump online at www.4WDSupacentre.com.au for all the technical specs and dimensions or duck into one of our fully kitted out showrooms to see the gear in person and walk away with a bargain on your setup for this summer escape!
