Are You Killing your Voyager Blog

A good old gas BBQ is an Australian staple. It’s perfect for those backyard feeds with friends and family. There’s nothing like sitting around with a few coldies with the Aussie BBQ rock classics playlist cranking, cooking up that feed and filling the warm arvo air with the delectable scents of a good T-Bone steak.

The Gasmate Voyager is the perfect portable barbie for just this and at a fraction of the price for competition small gas bbq’s out there! But just because you have paid less for it doesn’t mean its just a disposable little barbie you take on that one trip and throw it to the rubbish tip, this little beauty will last for years to come with a little bit of elbow grease and a little bit of love.

You don’t need to have an arsenal of tools to keep your Voyager in tip top condition. The perfect tools are the Adventure Kings BBQ Toolset to keep it nice and clean with a bonus spatula and tongs for knocking up that BBQ brekkie. Don’t forget your Adventure Kings Aluminium Roll Up Table it’s the perfect platform for not only your cooking and prep, but the all important clean up as well it’s super sturdy and portable. The Adventure Kings BBQ Bag will keep your new BBQ neatly stored and out of the elements and with its heavy duty canvas and carry handles it’s easily stored anywhere from the ute to the shed . As always you can find these items all at www.4wdsupacentre.com.au and be sure to snag yourself a combo deal to save yourself a few extra bucks! A few paper towels, newspaper, table salt and a can of spray oil is all it takes otherwise.

Seasoning Your New Voyager

First things first. You need to season this little beauty. Take your can of spray oil and spray all the internals of your Voyager to be sure to get an even coating and lightly wipe down with your paper towels careful not to remove too much oil.

Replace the hood of the Voyager and allow the oil to bake into your surfaces for around 20-30 mins. This allows the oil to bake into all of the internal surfaces leaving it completely non stick and offering a protective layer for any moisture to drip away rather than be absorbed into the pores of any off the surfaces on the Voyager.

Cleaning Your Voyager

It is super important to keep your Voyager clean and tidy for not only your next cook, but to prevent any rust or issues down the track. I like to use the BBQ Brush that comes with the Adventure Kings BBQ Toolkit. While it’s still warm, give your hotplate a gentle scrape using the scraper side of the BBQ Brush and using the brush side, brush off any excess food residue on the grill side.

If you find you have stubborn food sticking to the surfaces sprinkle about a table spoon of table salt across the surface of the hotplate and scrub with newspaper, this gentle cleaning process reduces the risk of marking or damaging the enamel coating on the hotplate. Remove your drip tray and wash if required and replace it underneath your Voyager. Once you have cleaned your hotplate and grill, it is best to just wipe on another light coating of oil on the hotplate and grill to reduce the risk of rust.

Storing Your Voyager

If you do not have your Voyager setup permanently in a weatherproof undercover patio or something of the like, it is best to store your Voyager out of the elements. Exposure to wind, rain, sun and frost etc. over extended periods of time will have an adverse effect on the condition and longevity of your Voyager.

It is always best to keep your Voyager either in a dry cool area or packed away in a carry bag in the shed or caravan. The Adventure Kings Canvas BBQ Bag is perfect for storing your Voyager and has plenty of room to fit your Adventure Kings Chef’s Knife Set and Chopping board and your Adventure Kings BBQ Toolkit with plenty of room to spare.

Easy to pack, carry and store away neatly.
