We love any excuse to unroll our swag here at 4WD Supacentre. There is nothing quite like rolling out your swag at your favorite campsite and waking up in the morning, opening the zip and realizing it’s a beautiful day outside.

We also love camping in swags because it’s just about as Aussie as it gets, with such a strong heritage, and history associated with a traditional Aussie swag, it fills your heart with pride!

However, we know that you can’t just go camping at the drop of a hat, as much as we’d all like to. Sometimes the real world gets in the way, but just because you can’t get out bush doesn’t mean you can’t use your swag often. Here’s six ways to get extra usage out of your swag without ever having to find a campsite.

1. ‘EMERGENCY’ SLEEPOVERS

Let us set the scene for you…. Its Friday night after work, and you drop around to your mate’s place for a couple of quiet ones after a long day at work, and all of a sudden you realise that you’ve had a couple too many and you’re in no state to drive home. Your mate doesn’t have a spare bed and the couch has been taken over by his overly-affectionate Great Dane who doesn’t know the meaning of ‘no’.

If you make sure you have your swag in the back of your 4WD, then a comfy night’s sleep is always available no matter where the night takes you. All you need to do is unroll your swag in the living room, peg it out against the TV wall unit and the coffee table and you’re set to snooze.
Sleeping in the swag also works great in the shed too when that quick starter motor swap turns into an all-night epic because someone (we’re looking at you, Barry) dropped a bolt down into the bellhousing…

2. ROLE REVERSAL – UNEXPECTED GUESTS!

Sometimes your best mate or even the mother-in-law can unexpectedly drop over and might need a place to crash for the night. The guest bedroom is your natural next step, whilst it is probably piled to the roof with boxes and junk. All you need to do is roll out your swag once again for instant bedding for unexpected guests.

3. INDOOR CUBBY FOR KIDS SLEEPOVERS!

Disney movies, popcorn, soft drink and lollies, may sound like a lot of fun… if you’re six. For the rest of us who may need a bit of peace and quiet, setting up the swag can be a mighty savior. It’s an instant fortress, castle, or even pirate ship for the kids to play in, especially if you have a big double swag like the Adventure Kings Big Daddy Deluxe! Plus as a bonus they can all fit inside there

4. BETTER SLEEP THAN THE DOGHOUSE

This one goes somewhat hand-in-hand with use # 1. After an impromptu sleepover at your mates’ place, you get home to find out that you’d conveniently forgotten about that dinner with the in-laws the night before. You’re in the doghouse tonight, which is lucky, because if you have your Adventure Kings Swag, the doghouse is a bloody comfortable place to sleep. By now your swag has just about paid itself off!

5. BACKYARD CAMPING!

Our final alternative use for your swag is also our favourite, because we just love sleeping in our swags. With no work the next day and the firepit crackling away, nothing beats falling asleep in the yard with the promise of a good nights sleep and a bit of star gazing.

We find backyard camping to be the perfect opportunity to roll out a swag in the backyard and scratch your camping itch without having to spend a single cent on diesel or unleaded!

It doesn’t matter if you’re camping in the back yard or up in Cape York, camping is camping right? And when you’ve got your swag on hand, camping is wherever and whenever you want it to be.
