Adventure Kings – Winch Tech

s much as traction can be enhanced by dropping tyre pressures and adding big tyres in aggressive tyre compounds, there is a point where even the most lifted, and modified 4WD rigs cannot progress any further offroad, this is where your trusty winch comes into play!

Whilst many 4WDers have winches fitted to their 4WD’s and on the rare occasion dust them off for a trip saving self-recovery, you should familiarize yourself with all the internal components of your winch and why they’ve been chosen in their construction, so we’re going to cover the internals of your reliable and strong Domin8r X 12,000lb winch.

WINCH CABLE
There are PLENTY of options for the choice of winch cable, from steel to synthetic, and within those options the choice of different diameters for varying loads!

The Domin8r X 12,000lb winch is fitted with a 9.5mm UHMWPE this synthetic cabling has many advantages over the heavier old-school steel cable. First of all, the synthetic style cables are lighter and tend to not splinter like their steel counterparts, the synthetic cables also don’t rust and in wet environments and can even float over water through creeks and mud puddles!

HIGH HORESPOWER ELECTRIC MOTOR

Early 4WD winches used to use PTO which stands for Power Take Off which takes its power from your motor via clever gearing, these systems are effective but do suffer from being 100% reliant on your motor running!

Thankfully with plenty of advances in electric motor technology, the newest Adventure Kings Domin8r X 12,000lb winch is packing a massive 7.2HP motor, when compared to your 4WD’s 100+HP you may scoff, but with 100% traction you will be surprised how much pulling power this whopping 7.2HP motor can offer!

MASSIVE REDUCTION GEARING

With low range gearing you’ll know what reduction gearing can do, with rock crawlers running between 60:1 and 100:1 ratios, you’d be blown away at the force output by one of these gear sets.

Brace yourself because the Domin8r X Winch offers a massive 218:1 gear ratio which reduces the speed of pull but increases the strength of pull for the most reliable recoveries

The 218:1 reduction gear ratio is afforded by the 3 stage planetary gearbox, which uses precision engineered metal gears for ultimate performance offroad!

INTEGRATED AUTOMATIC BRAKE
Without a brake mechanism, as soon as you stop winching, your winch cable would unspool itself, Making offroad recoveries extremely dangerous. This is why the Adventure Kings Domin8r X 12,000LB winch offers plenty of braking force with its massive internal drum brake!

WIRED AND WIRELESS CONTROLL BOX

The control box on many winches is limited by the length of wire attached to the winch control handle, not the epic Domin8r X 12,000lb Winch, the winch handle has an integrated battery, which when the wireless control module is connected allows the winch to be completely unspooled with no wires attached, this feature comes in handy when you are performing winch recoveries on your own and need to unspool your cable whilst also walking it out to your anchor!

There isnt a winch on the market that can offer all of that for under $400, and not a winch in the price range that is as reliable as the Domin8r X 12,000LB workhorse!
