Six Ways to Make Setting Up Camp Easier

March 4, 2018   |   By Matt Smith Six Ways to Make Setting Up Camp Easier - image Capture-8 on https://news.emgcloud.net/news

If you love going camping but you hate the thought of battling your way through setting up camp, then
this guide is for you. We love our jobs here at 4WD Supacentre, because we live and breathe camping.
We’ve got a collective couple of hundred years of camping experience right across the whole team here,
and if there’s one thing we know, it’s that it is so essential to ensure your camp setup is easy. Battling
through setting up camp while your mates are kicking back relaxing frankly sucks. With that in mind,
we’ve created this guide to six easy ways you can make setting up camp easier thanks to 4WD
Supacentre.

1. DITCH YOUR CRAPPY OLD TENT. These days there are so many different options for camping
accommodation that you no longer need to battle through setting up multiple tent rooms with
dozens of poles. If you’re still camping out of a 20 year old heavy-canvas tent then you’re
making it so much harder for yourself! Swags set up in minutes and provide heaps of quality
shelter, and roof top tents are just as quick to set up too. One person can easily set up a roof top
tent or a swag in under five minutes and that’s if you’re taking it easy and doing it for the first
time.

2. KEEP ALL YOUR BEDDING INSIDE YOUR CAMPING ACCOMODATION. Whether you camp out of a
swag or a rooftop tent, one of the best features of either is an ability to store all your sheets,
pillows and sleeping bags or doonas inside the rooftop tent or swag when you pack it away. That
means you can open up your swag or rooftop tent and be ready to sleep instantly! No more
having to carry all your bedding in the back of the 4WD and continually make your bed every
single night.

3. KEEP A COUPLE OF MESH FLOORS ON HAND. In fact, keep them packed in the back of your 4WD
so you can grab them before anything else. Half the battle of setting up camp is keeping the
whole thing clean, so the first thing you should do is throw down a mesh floor to keep all your
camping gear up and out of the dirt. Make it the first thing you setup at camp and the last thing
you pack away, and you’ll reduce how dirty your camp gear gets in a massive way!

4. MAKE YOUR WHOLE SETUP MODULAR. Whether it’s a camping gazebo or an awning for the side
of your 4WD, here at 4WD Supacentre we’ve designed our campsite shelter options to be fully
modular. That means you can add side walls, mesh floors, mozzie nets and even fully-enclosed
tents to either your awning or your gazebo that are all designed to work together in a modular
fashion using zips and Velcro straps. All the different add-ons for your awning or gazebo are easy
to use, and take next to no time to setup.

5. FORGET TARPS – USE A CAMPING GAZEBO. We’ve spent countless hours over the years trying to
rig up tarps between trees and 4WDs, only to have them come down again at the first gust of
wind. Tarps are old-school and they’ve honestly had their day as a main means of campsite
shelter. These days a 3×3 gazebo or 3×6 gazebo is a much better option for campsite shelter
because a gazebo is tough as nails, easy to setup and easy to pack away. Forget struggling with
multiple poles and ropes, a gazebo is where it’s at!

6. BE BRUTAL – IF IT’S HARD TO USE, DITCH IT. Be honest with your camping setup. Whatever is
difficult to use, has no place in your setup. Whether it’s something like that tarp you string up
over your car, or even old camp chairs that are dirty and grubby and don’t open like they should,
there’s no need to struggle your way through setting up camp. After all, this is all about relaxing
and enjoying being in the great outdoors, so there’s no point making it harder than it needs to

be! Especially when 4WD Supacentre has such a massive range of incredible quality camping
gear at insane prices that delivers unbeatable value. Go on, treat yourself to some new camping
gear and watch what it does to your camp setup!
