5 MINUTE TASTY TRACKSIDE MEALS – Eat well in the bush this spring!

October 18, 2018   |   By 5 MINUTE TASTY TRACKSIDE MEALS – Eat well in the bush this spring! - image Capture-3 on https://news.emgcloud.net/news

It’s easy enough to cook everyone up sausage sandwiches when you are on the tracks, but have you ever considered ramping up the inner master Chef and cooking up delicious meals on the tracks that are the envy of all the campsites around!

Here are our favorite snacks on the track, but don’t be afraid to try these recipes out at home and dial in your technique before hitting the tracks, that way you’ll know just how much to talk up how good your meal is going to be to all of your camping buddies!

Beer marinated steak

Beer marinated steak is great for adding flavor to cheaper cuts of meat, whilst it works great with beef, you can also try with chicken or even pork if you wanted to make dinner and lunch on the tracks.
Prep time: 5 Minutes
Difficulty:
EASY
Ingredients:

  • 150-200g per person of your favorite cut of meat.
  • Steak seasoning (or salt and pepper and other spices you might light – to taste).
  • 1 can/bottle of the tastiest beer you have in your Adventure Kings Fridge Freezer.
  • Any sides you may want to add!

Tools
Adventure BBQ tools

Hot, oiled cooking surface (BBQ Hotplate, Voyager BBQ, Skillet pan or Bedourie camp oven lid)

A Plate

– Plastic bag large enough for meat (with no holes, eg, a freezer bag)

Adventure Kings Fridge Freezer, or ice box

Steps

  1. Take your cut of meat and lay it out on a plate or even on the tray it came on, and sprinkle with seasoning, use more than you think you will need as it will permeate the meat and spread flavor throughout.
  2. Place all of your meat in plastic bag, and crack open an icy cold beer from your Adventure Kings Fridge/Freezer, and pour it inside the bag
  3. Seal the bag with a tight knot and place inside your Adventure Kings Fridge freezer for at least half an hour – with marinating, the rule is, the longer the better, so preparation in the morning will add more flavor to the meat
  4. When you have your cooking hotplate nice and hot, chuck your meat on, and heat till it’s cooked to perfection.

An Aussie cooked breakfast!

Everywhere you go in the UK or the English Commonwealth, you can get a cooked breakfast – with each country claiming the idea as traditional and their own, listed on the menu as “full English” to “Traditional Scottish” and even “original Irish cooked breakfast”!

However, none of them can possibly claim the deep rooted, true blue origins of the Aussie cooked breakfast!

This is our take on a good morning fry up and has saved us after many a late night on the tracks filled with good friends and cold drinks!

Prep time: 5 Minutes
Difficulty:
EASY
Ingredients:

  • Bacon
  • Eggs
  • Hash browns
  • A couple of slices of bread.
  • Vegemite
  • Cheese
  • Mushies (if you choose)
  • Avocado
  • Salt and pepper for taste.

Tools
Adventure BBQ tools

Hot, oiled cooking surface (BBQ Hotplate, Voyager BBQ, Skillet pan or Bedourie camp oven lid)

A Plate

– A Small bowl

– A Fork

Steps:

  1. There are many elements that have to cook up and be ready at the same time, Bacon and hash browns take the longest to cook so chuck that on your cooking surface first.
  2. With your bacon sizzling away in the background you can start prepping your avocado, cut it in half and start mashing it up in the small bowl using your fork.
  3. It’s now time to start frying your eggs, simply crack your eggs onto your hotplate and start frying up, now take a couple of slices of bread and add them to the hotplate to start toasting them.
  4. Depending on your cooking surface you can shuffle everything around with your Adventure Kings BBQ Tools, to ensure all your food is cooking evenly. Don’t forget to flip your bacon and hash browns to cook evenly!
  5. If you are going to cook up some mushies, they should go on last. Keep in mind mushies shrink when cooked, this means grab more than you think you’ll need!
  6. With your toast browned, smear a dollop of vegemite, and melt your cheese over the top.
  7. With all of your add ons cooked up, you can now cover your vegemite+cheese melteed toast with smashed avocado, season for flavour.
  8. To the side, place your cooked hash browns down, top with bacon and fried eggs and if you have cooked up some mushies you can add those too!
  9. Dig in and enjoy one of our favourite hangover cures!
